Welcome to a shiny new ARMA Dallas year! We had a fabulous meeting to wrap up the last fiscal year in June, with installation of officers and recognition of our awesome volunteers. Of those two groups, it’s the second that we all depend on the most to keep the chapter running smoothly. We truly appreciate your giving us some of your time and energy.

We also had a working session with members and nonmembers talking about what we all look for in ARMA to help us in our careers. One thing that quickly became clear is that many members are unaware of the resources available through the ARMA International website (arma.org).

Did you know you could have a regular digest of regulatory and compliance issues delivered to your inbox, as well as several other briefs and bulletins? You control what comes to you, so go check out what they have. Don’t forget to adjust your email preferences to suit your needs.

Although the chapter has a summer break from luncheon meetings in July and August, your board is still hard at work. We all spend a day on a board retreat, planning for the coming year, setting goals, assessing our resources, and figuring out how best to allot them.

There is also a 4-day regional leadership conference to train board members. This is what I love about ARMA: if you have the willingness to step up, it’s a great opportunity to hone and showcase your talents because it gives you training and experience.

Meetings start up again in September. We’re kicking off the new year with our Fall Seminar, featuring ARMA superstar Patrick Cunningham. We will be combining it with our regular luncheon meeting, so if you can’t stay for the day, stop by for some mid-day sustenance for your mind and body from our speaker and a tasty buffet!

FOR THE SEPTEMBER MEETING ONLY: The meeting will be on the 2nd THURSDAY (not Tuesday) of the month, and we will be meeting at the Boy Scouts of America headquarters in Arlington. See our website for details – armadallas.org

We will be posting a list of questions that all our enquiring board members are asking. Maybe one of them will trigger a thought.
